Over 33% Gas Reproduction Enhancement from ICOFC Reservoirs

Last year over 33% gas reproduction rise from Shorijeh D and Sarajeh Reservoirs was realized compared to the same period of the previous year.

Regarding storage and reproduction of gas from the two strategic gas Reservoirs (Shorijeh D and Sarajeh) to supply winter demand, Rajabi, production director of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company said: last year, in warm season a total of 869 million cubic meters of gas was injected to Sarajeh storage facility and 1 billion and 449 mcm to Shorijeh D over a period of eight months.

Referring to the special position of East Oil and Gas Production company (one of the three ICOFC subsidiaries) Rajabi said: given that EOGPC supplies gas demand of North and Northeastern part of the country and due to the distance of these areas from gas production centers in the South, storage and reproduction of gas from Shorijeh D eliminates the need to import gas from Turkmenistan and that"s why the company has strategic and special position for ICOFC.

He added: with the start of the cold season last year, 902 mcm of gas was reproduced from Sarajeh reservoir, which shows some 17 percent growth compared to the previous year, and 1 billion and 722 mcm of gas was also produced from Shorijeh D reservoir showing a growth of 43% compared to the same period last year. These figures indicate the key role of summer gas storage in Sarajeh and Shorijeh D reservoirs in supplying the country"s gas in winter.

According to Public Relations of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company, Sarajeh storage facility was operated to guarantee and supply winter gas demand. Its suitable geographical location and proximity to Tehran province and national gas transmission pipeline have increased its importance.

Based on the report, Shorijeh D reservoir in the northeastern part of the country has the capacity for maximum development. Annual gas storage capacity of this reservoir is currently 2.4 billion cubic meters which will increase up to 4.8 bcm when Oil Ministry development plans are realized.
